White areas in the floor plan are employee only. The labeled gray areas are our reception / waiting areas, grooming and the indoor spaces where your pup(s) will be accommodated. Our large outdoor play area is shown on the left in tan.
Arriving
When you arrive 1, you’ll see in our foyer 2 that City Dogs has been honored to have received consistent ‘Best of Roanoke’ awards from The Roanoker magazine annual poll as well as being voted one of the ‘Best of Virginia’ by the readers of Virginia Living Magazine.
This foyer also provides some separation from our waiting area should your pup (or the pup(s) ahead of you in the waiting area) require some quiet space.
When you bring your pup(s) in for boarding or playcare, we work quickly to move them thru a control gate to the left of the reception / waiting area 3 into our ‘air locks’ where our staff can retrieve them and move them to their designated play area. Having multiple air locks allows us to process incoming pooches quickly. We know that sometimes our canine guests can get overly excited at the prospect of playing at City Dogs!
If you’re bringing your pooch in for grooming, you turn immediately right after our foyer into our grooming room 4.
Please always have your dog on leash and under your control entering City Dogs. This is for everyone’s safety and comfort. Feel free to wait in the foyer until any dogs ahead of you in the waiting area are moved into air locks or grooming.
As we admit your pup(s) for boarding or playcare, you’ll see us remove their collars. We are a ‘Play Naked‘ facility for their safety. The collars will be returned when they leave. We have a leash rack in the waiting area where you are welcome to leave your leash.
Our entry 1does have stairs to the front door. If you are unable to traverse these, please call ahead and we will come out to your car to assist.

Beach Suite
The beach suite has a lovely blue exterior, channeling it’s ‘ocean front’ appeal. It’s roomy 8’x8′ interior space with white beadboard interior, faux ocean window views and real window interior views is perfect for that special canine beach getaway.
Towhouse Suite
Door opens to our Townhouse Suite. Its striking purple exterior has that urban appeal your pup(s) are looking for. It’s extra large 10’x10′ interior has fashionable ceramic tile walls, large sunny exterior windows and even canine family portraits on the walls! It’s perfect for that larger doggie family stay.
Craftsman Suite
Our warm Craftsman Suite has a stylish green exterior. It’s gracious 8’x8′ interior includes wood stained (and polyurethaned for cleaning!) beadboard walls, large sunny exterior windows and canine family portraits decorating the walls. It feels just like home, welcoming any of our furry guests to a comfortable stay!
Cabin Suite
The Cabin Suite’s cheerful red exterior welcomes our canine guests to a pleasant 7’x10′ space decorated with rustic wood and metal. The large sunny exterior window makes the space airy and the faux forest view window appeals to the the ‘call of the wild” in all our furry guests! No doubt this will be their favorite suite in no time.
Farmhouse Suite
Our homey Farmhouse Suite’s bright yellow exterior welcomes our furry guests to a spacious 8’x8′ space with blue Formica walls, faux bookcase of books and a pleasant interior window. Any of our canine guests will be right at home in this cheery suite!
Our Play Areas
We have multiple, large indoor play areas 7 – 10 where our guests enjoy open play even during the worst of weather conditions.
We rotate play groups outdoors 11, weather permitting, for even more fun. Our 8,000 sq ft outside play area includes our custom play structure, tires and more to explore and romp on. Next year
